Decks on these pages include Rider-Waite-Smith decks, Rider-Waite-Smith Clones &Rider-Waite-Smith Derivitives as well as, inspirational/meditation/self-help cards.
(For a larger selection, not personally recommended, visit my Spiritcaat Shop.)
With rare noted exception, there are no decks these pages which I have not personally seen, used or own. You can see a list of the tarot decks that are in my own collection.
For these recommendations, I have chosen only the decks which stand out to me for their uniqueness and/or usefulness. I have written my personal thoughts for each deck, so that you might more easily ascertain what decks would be the best choice for you.
The Rider-Waite-Smith deck (often referred to as RWS) is the most famous and well-used tarot deck. It is this deck which you will find examples of in most tarot books, even though other decks are increasingly being used. Because of it's rich symbolism, it is the influence of many other beautiful decks.
If you are brand new to the tarot, I suggest you start with the "Rider Clones." Clone decks generally use the same or very similar imagery, but may adapt the color scheme and detail. My personal belief is that some of these clones are the very best choice for a beginning student of the tarot.
For my personal acquaintances who ask which deck they should start with, I recommend either the "Universal Waite" Deck, if they prefer subtle coloring, or the "Radiant Tarot," if they prefer a more dynamic feel. Either one of those will get you started magnificently on a long and treasured tenure of reading the tarot. Have fun. :-)
