Hi Caat! I live in the UK, in the lovely county of Kent, with my wife and small menagerie. I have four lovely furbabies, Muffin (a tabby), Murzik (a chartreuse- his name is Russian, and means 'he who likes to nuzzle a lot'), and two sisters- Masha (a calico) and Mina (a white angora). I also keep aquatic frogs, snails, and have an aquarium loaded with fish and shrimp. As well as reading Tarot, Runes and I-Ching, I do energy healing, principally using Kundalini Reiki. We have many cats from our neighbourhood come to visit us, and when one of them was badly injured and lost the use of his tail, I was able to successfully heal him using Reiki. Animal communication sounds fascinating, and I'd like to find out more, as I've become aware of being able to empathise with animals since studying the shamanic path.
Wow! That *is* a menagerie.

I love "he who likes to nuzzle a lot." My cat's name - Makana - means 'gift' in Hawaiian. We named him that because when we first saw him, I spoke to one of my cats who had passed into spirit and he said, "you have to take him, he was the closest one to me I could find, and Puma (another cat who had passed the prior year) set it up for you." Which was really true. It was very strange and precise how we found each other. You need to post some pics of your kids for us some time.

Great story about the healing. I do reiki too, as well as a couple of other energy healing modalities. Mostly on animals. Sounds like you'd be able to pick up animal communication pretty easily. Tarot was my first love, too long ago to want to think about, but when I met a communicator, she said, "Heck, if you can do that, you can do this!" So I did!

That's why I started this board, to have a way to practice. I've been doing it professionally for a couple of years now and it's going well.
My husband is really interested in Runes, but I don't know how to do them so I can't help him in that regard. I-Ching has always eluded me, but I don't know why. I study shamanism, as well, so I throw stones and such. I would imagine it's similar.
What kind of shamanism do you study? I have been studying Huna. Not many people know about it. The person who's like 'the big Kahuna' of Huna calls it Adventurer Shamanism v. Warrior Shamanism. Both have the same direction, just a different route. I'm looking forward to getting settled so I can start putting time and effort into that again. What I like about shamanism is the idea that everything I do is sort of put under one umbrella. Y'know, people always ask what I do and I feel the need to pick one to tell them or list off a litany of things - I'm sure you know what that's like. It sort of makes more sense to me to say "I'm a shaman." But I don't feel like I can do that yet.
If you decide you'd like to try your hand at Animal Communication, feel free to pick an animal and give it a shot. After I move, I may start posting an animal that I know every month in addition to other people posting their pets. It just occurs to me that I don't have a book list posted. Again, I will move that up on the list of things to do when I get my life back again. In the meantime, you can start here:

Better get on with my packing now. Ta.
