No problem, Marlene! However, as you figured out, I am just a fellow admirer of Red's :) WillyWags is his lucky "owner" <3

Thank you BeautyisTruth!  He is a lovely man indeed. And has lived to such a ripe old age already, its really marvellous and I find very heartening as I feel many animals have the ability to live a longer life than is "projected" for them. I feel the more we learn about the whole aspect of an animal, not just the physical, and address all aspects of animals, the longer they will live. Ditto for humans.
Best wishes

When I saw Red's photo I really wanted to talk to him. Then I saw all the responses and decided it was probably enough, not wanting to overwhelm the situation. This series of communications is so beautiful it brought tears to my eyes. Thank you, all of you. I sent him love, and only because he did show up while I was doing this, I told him he was so beautiful and handsome. He said "I AM kinda cute, aren't I?" He's got a sense of humor. ;) An intelligent one. He said thank you to me and to come and speak to him anytime. Yes, a lovely guy. Bless, Red.

Hello everyone I'm so sorry I have taken forever to reply to you all, christmas time for me is not the best time of the year for me right but all is good now.
I am so overwhelmed that you all had such a connection with Red, I know he is quite stoked about it all and do feel free to chat to him at anytime, I had some more pics to add too.
Birdseye:  You are so right about the cuddles and scratches  he does love them! and yes he very muh is a gentle being  thanks so much for that

Marlene: Interesting you should say "feet"  as he had his feet done 2 weeks ago and as I had a farrier that was not quite "up to scratch" with balancing their feet, I had my brother who is a master farrier over here on hols so I got him to correct them which probably made him uncomfortable initially, he also has arthriris in the back end so thats why you picked up on that and I'm sure after the farrier work that might aggrevate it a bit too even tho my bro (Who is 6"4)  did him low to the ground!
And Simon well that was the farrier i was going to change too!!  maybe that was it
He is a Quarter Horse who is western trained , so I'd say thats why you saw that girth
Not sure about the waterbowl/basin but will think more on that.

He is paddocked with 2 racehorses!!  one old one young
Not    sure about the bamboo either but maybe you had things coming through not just from Red.
Oh and we have been talking about a kitten, 2 years ago I lost my BullyBuster and as my son  was close to him  has been saying when is Bully going to come back to us? So I have been saying we should keep an eye out for a kitten.
so you did do very well!!  Sometimes its hard to interpret the images, I always say please make it simple as I'm no good at cryptic things  lol

Pamela please feel free to talk to him as I said he quite likes all this attention!

I changed the subject on this post to reflect what it really is...a lecture with Red!
****************

Red, can I talk to you please?
Of course. I actually have a lot to say. There are some things I want to say.

Sure, Red, go ahead.
Have you ever felt the cool grass? Really felt the sun on your face?

Yes. Probably not as much as you have, though. And not very recently.
Well horses have more of a chance to do that than humans. But humans can choose to do that, too. In fact, humans can choose to do a lot of things that would be good for them. Better for them than what they usually choose to do.

Like what, Red?
Like listening instead of speaking. Like feeling first. And trusting themselves. And instead of trying to muster energy from just within themselves, picking it up from the things around them, from the earth beneath their feet.

What does that do for you, Red?
It allows you to be more aware of your surroundings, and to remain more connected to them. And it takes the weight off of your shoulders to muster energy from just within yourself for things.

What things?
It could be anything. Riding, for one. Communicating.

Do horses do that naturally?
We sort of have to; we need to be attuned constantly to everything around us.

In the wild?
Yes, especially in the wild.

It takes conscious effort for most of us, you know.
Yes, but not always, right?

Well, that’s true. Not always.
The more you [humans] allow for that energy … the more time you spend in the sun, the more easily it will come. Like a spoken conversation – as effortless.

I guess that makes sense. What advice would you give to those of us who do try to do this consciously?
You humans have an amazing capacity for hatred, but you also have an amazing capacity for love. That’s what you need most of all to communicate with us. We know your hearts and your intentions, often better than you do. But it shouldn’t be so. You should know yourself first. There is nothing more beautiful.

Than what?
Than a human who knows himself.

Is that hard to find?
I daresay it is.

How many have you known?
Two.

Just two?
Yes.

So, I’m trying to understand this properly: you’re saying that humans have an amazing capacity for love. And when we go to communicate with an animal it’s important because animals can see straight to our intentions and our hearts. But you’re saying that … we don’t always recognize our own intentions or our own hearts, or our own capacity for love?
Yes, that’s it exactly. So the first step before going to assess an animal or engage an animal in conversation is being aware of yourself and your surroundings, too, as they are in a way, a part of yourself. You must first be able to assess yourself, engage yourself in conversation, even. Honest conversation. A person who can do that with any degree of success will find it much easier to do the same with that which is outside of him.

That’s a tall order, Red.
Yes, but it’s not a one-time event.

Meaning?
It’s something that must be worked toward continuously. Some days you will be closer than others. And those days it will come easier.

So those are the days it comes easily! From the earlier part of our conversation. I said it takes conscious effort and you said, “Yes, but not always, right?”
Correct. So the key to the effortless communication is entering that state of self-awareness. Note here: "self-awareness" is not the exact word I wanted...it was the best I could come up with at the moment to explain what Red was saying to me. But it didn't really cover the whole meaning.

So the two people you mentioned...?
Lived/live in a nearly constant state of this.

I’m overwhelmed by you, Red. You’re a teacher, Red.
Yes, I am a teacher.

Well if you ever want to do a lecture, let me know.
Thank you, perhaps I will.

I guess that’s all for now. Thanks so much for talking to me.
Anytime. I might take you up on that offer.

Goodbye!
For now.

WillyWags, I had to read it a few times, too!

Though I knew, even as he was speaking, that I agreed to it, I always have to go back and reconcile the new things I learn with what I already believe or know. And I found that this fits with what I was talking about on another post, about "being" versus doing. Red is essentially talking about entering a different state of being, a state where things like communicating come effortlessly. And when I think back to the times when it has been nearly effortless, it's true, I guess I was in that sort of state where I was honest with myself about my emotions, at peace with the world around me etc. Or at least that's what I got from it.

It's funny about the sun thing, because I told him "not very recently" because it's been so overcast and gloomy and cold lately and I've spent most of my time indoors. But we had this conversation last night and then I left work today and it was BEAUTIFUL outside. Sunny with a light breeze, and I just looked up at the sky and around me and smiled, and thought of our conversation. And yes, I did feel connected to my surroundings, a part of it all.

Curiously, do you know what two people he's talking about?

I just read BeautyisTruths wonderful conversation (lecture!) with Red (the Elder!). Where does one start...?What a beautiful man in your life Williwags. I dont think its any co-incidence you posted him on the forum to talk to..and thank you for all your feedback today, its marvellous.
BeautyisTruth, what a wonderful converstation and what a gift you have.  Such a clear and rich conversation. I need to read it a few times too. Arent there so many incredible animals amongst us, here on the planet? Such teachers, and so wise. Animals just seem to cut to the chase much more than us 2 legged creatures. They are so "there" too.
Have a great day
best wishes

Thanks, Marlene. That was definitely a time when it was all coming easily, and I do find it especially easy to communicate with horses, as I've spent nearly all my life with them. Red is certainly a special one. And I get the feeling that there will be more lectures from Red in the future.

Curiously, do you know what two people he's talking about?

I was going to ask you the same thing!!
He has known 2 humans that truely know themselves, I wish that was me!  But i dont know, maybe he will tell us one day!
He said Lived/live, so one has passed? Hes probably having a good chuckle at us trying to work it out!

When Red said Like listening instead of speaking. Like feeling first. And trusting themselves. And instead of trying to muster energy from just within themselves, picking it up from the things around them, from the earth beneath their feet.

Trying to muster  the energy from around us not from within that really struck a cord with me as I think this is what I do
You can reread your post and everytime I pick up something more!
