When I first started communicating, I realized that the only way I was going to build my confidence was to just 'jump in.'  Living in a small town with little support prompted me to start this board.

The biggest thing I found to overcome in reading for the animals here was to take the risk of telling the animal's person what I got.  Then I thought to myself, "okay, it might be right, it might be wrong.  If it's right, great!  If it's wrong, nobody is going to die.  It's not brain surgery."

I have been very careful to let people know that I was a beginner and that they need to take my readings with a grain of salt, but doing it time after time, I found that it was rare that I was off the mark, and that  is what build confidence.  The combination of pure repetition and the great feedback that people give here has made all the difference.  So any time I start to learn something, be it tarot, or AC or whatever, my view is just "jump in."  If I'm off the mark, then my ego gets a little bruised, but that is far outweighed by the times I hit which is such a great feeling.

Any thoughts on how any of you approach the beginning confidence thing?

Thanks so much for starting this topic!! I agree this is what I have problems with the most!! I'm scared that maybe it'll be wrong! It's nice to know I'm not the only one who felt/feels this way :D

Oh, you so aren't.  Everyone who has read on this board has felt that way.  (You can read some of the older posts on the old forum, here: http://spiritcaat.com/pawstalkforum/)

Be my guest to speak with either Makana or Cuba.  I'll be happy to give detailed feedback.

My best advice is to just introduce yourself to any new animal just as you would to any new person.  What I have learned by doing this is that animals have their own conversational personalities just like people.  Some are very talkative, others are very shy.  The great thing about reading here is that people are really good about giving feedback.

Good luck, and again, welcome.  cs:)

I hope so.  Our only problem is that people get a lot of practice here and then move on .... some to become professional.   I need to get the word out again to get more readers here.

By all means, all my kids are here: http://spiritcaat.com/spiritcaatforum/index.php?topic=16.0

Makana is the orange one and he is 2 years old.
Cuba is the Tuxedo and he is around 10 years old.

Puma is the Torti-shell, she was the love of my life who died at the ripe old age of 18, in 2006.
Cairo is the Abyssinian mix who we think was about 15 years old when he died in 2005.

Feel free to speak with any of them.  Sometimes it helps to start off with speaking to animals of other communicators because there isn't as much pressure.  We all know how nerve-wracking it can be.  Just do me a favor and post any communications with them in the practice forum. http://spiritcaat.com/spiritcaatforum/index.php?board=10.0  In fact, I'll try to remember repost the pics of them for you there a little later.

If you have any questions or need help, just let me know. I usually just start by introducing myself, telling them that their mom or dad asked me to speak with them and ask their permission.  And then make sure to thank them for the talk and say good-bye when you're done.  You know,  what I call "petiquette."  ;)

Good luck.  Let me know if you have any questions, or if you want me to give you some questions to ask. (I usually don't do that because I don't like them myself, I just like to let the conversation flow rather than have it be like an interview, but some people like that and I have no problem giving you some things if you'd like.)

Best,
Caat

hi I agree jumping in is a good idea.

I have always suffered, well had low self esteem , low confidence. And with spirit and psychic reading classes or practising reading i have always been worried, so worried i was getting it wrong. It has crippled me really.

I try to not let it get to me and i have gotten better.

Also i have to add, it is importnt to say everything u get, dont not say it because u are worried it is wrong. Often the most whackiest or wierdest, odd things turn out to be real.
I think it is important to give what you get, dont change it, try to say it all. Because we are only the telephonist, only the message bearer, its not our job to edit stuff.
( I mean try put things nicely if they sound rude maybe, but dont not say something because you think its odd.) that odd thing u dont want to say could be the one significant thing in the reading.

Sure.  You want to talk to Cuba?  If you want to just have a conversation with him, that's fine, or can give you some questions if you want.  I'll validate either way.

You can tell him how proud we are of him. :)

Not having to do with being proud of him, but you absolutely hit something with the teeth cleaning thing.  We had his blood tested a couple of years ago to get his teeth cleaned, but we have never done it because we don't know if we want to put him through it.  You absolutely hit this because it's something we bring up every so often.

Nice job! :D

Have a nice weekend.  :)
