Penelope Smith is an excellent experiential teacher of animal shamanism work.  Her website is http://www.animaltalk.net
Her primary focus is animal communication, and her advanced classes include the most shamanic work.  I have seen her drum and call the spirits and have the wind come from all four directions at once (a meteorological impossibility . . .).

Laurie Bates leads women's healing circles for animals and other experiential shamanic workshops.  Her website is http://www.animalway.com
She can help anyone move a long way in a short time.  She also gathers the names of animals to have included each time she has a healing circle.  You can email her the names you want to add.

I am anxious for Penelope Smith to offer another workshop in Pt. Reyes. That's close enough to me that I could go and I think I might like it better than the one I just took, where the instructor was diametrically opposed to the concept that telepathy, which she teaches as a communication tool, is the same set of tools used by intuitives.  I learned a lot but I think I would get a lot more out of it from someone who embraces the total concepts of telepathy, and shamanism.

Hi Bigcat,

I am enjoying your forum.  Can you explain what your instructor meant by the above?

Thanks,
Thunder

Hi Thunder.

It's not anything that she said, it was my interpretation of her.  She was vehemently opposed to the word "psychic." It was like dirty word to her.  She taught that people and animals communicate via telepathy, yet she refused to acknowledge that there could be any commonality between the way that people communicate with animals and the way that psychics use telepathy to access information.

It might be going to a different place, but it's still telepathy.  And she was so focused on not being called a "psychic," that she, in my opinion, was closing her mind to the reality of the process.  It was very off-putting.  She also poo-pood shamanism.

I gained something from her workshop but I would not take another from her. I didn't really feel like I got the value out of it.  I'm sure she's very good at what she does, but I didn't find her that good of a teacher.  We could have spent a lot more time practicing and a lot less time listening to story after story of her successes.  I understand using a story to illustrate a point, but by the time she gets to 6 or 7, the point has been made -- usually at the first.

Like I say, I got a lot out of the workshop, I felt more confident afterwards, but I feel like I could have gotten more out of it, and I was completely confused after walking out of there having been told that my psychic ability was something that would work against me.  Since then, I've done a lot of reading and studying and practicing and realize that is not true for me.  My 30 years of psychic experience is a great help to me in doing this.

Obviously her workshops work for a lot of people enough to go back.  Because of her close-minded philosophy, it didn't for me.
